Recently someone asked me about the best lesson I’ve learned in my work with Spirit. Now there are heaps I’ve learned so far, and even more I’m still learning as I type and beyond, but the answer was simple.
My biggest lesson has been to trust myself.
In this case I’m not quite talking about the voice of my intuition, although you already know that Shelley and I are incredibly passionate advocates when it comes to trusting that. But in this case I’m being more specific and talking about trusting your own wisdom and your connection with Spirit.
I’ve told the story many times about my first experience of giving messages from Spirit; what I experienced and how I only really came to trust the messages they were giving me by standing up and passing that information on.
And it goes much further than that… when I first started remembering past lives I was convinced I was imagining them, until we realised Shelley was remembering some of the very same information, down to tiny little details. And when we began channelling Aurora symbols I doubted mine more times than I can tell you, until I tried them out and experienced the energy they created. And goodness knows there are many many more examples along the way
Everything from channelling for someone else to knowing how to heal or connect, to choosing the right crystal or teacher… it’s all about listening to your inner wisdom and in all ties into trusting yourself enough to follow your own guidance.
When you start out on the Spiritual path in whatever way that may be – professionally, to help others, or just for your own personal development and interest, there will always be people willing to offer you advice and information.
And that’s great! There is no substitute for a good guide, supporter or teacher, but that doesn’t mean you have to follow the exact same path or process as them.
At Aurora we’re very passionate about doing things your own way; by all means take what we give you and go home to reflect on it. But if something doesn’t quite sit right with you, or you have a different idea of how things should be done, then think about it, maybe do some research, and follow the way that feels right for you.
Whether it be meditation, crystal work, healing, protection, mediumship, past lives or any of the other things we work on, Spirit work and the development that comes through it is so very personal that you have to follow your own path and trust in yourself to know best.
But over and above all of that you must trust that you can do these things too… yes, you!
Because why wouldn’t you be able to contact Spirit, see your past lives, manifest, heal others etc etc etc as long as your intention is positive and you’re prepared to devote time and effort to attuning yourself to the energies needed to do that?
I’ll leave you with the words of Marianne Williamson, which are some of my favourites ever (and that really is saying something, since I adore words…):
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
